Question Need some opinion, info or anything that might help a friend of mine on boat motors

He is looking for (new to him boat) and running in to a lot of Evinrude motors. I have never owned a Evinrude, so I know nothing to help him with on them. What is some of the experience of the board ? Good, bad, certain models to be aware of, horsepower that not suggested to get, basically anything that you can share with me and him to help in deciding. I only have had Honda, Mercury and now Yamaha and I like all of them.

Thanks in advance for all info

I have had Evinrude motors on my last two boats and had very good luck with them. The motor on my project boat is an '85 2 cylinder 2 cycle 50HP which runs like a clock. One thing I like about OMCs (Evinrudes & Johnsons) is the price for parts is usually less than the other brands. I think it is because OMC makes many of the parts to fit many of the models. The fuel filter for my present ob is a standard inline automotive type that can be had for $5 or so while my Mercury 9.9HP filter had to come from the Mercury dealer at over $30.

on my '77 85HP and my '80 100HP the only difference I've found is the carbs. One has regular choke and the other has electric primer
