Thread: Bow mounted trolling motor bracket dimensions?

I've looked everywhere, but can't seem to find a good recommendation on the dimensions of a bow trolling motor mount.

I'm having one fabricated similar to this for my 1448 and would like to know what length and width would work well for a Minn Kota Edge 45 sized base plate.

I have a 2006 Minn-Kota Edge 55pd. It is mounted to a lockable quick release bracket. The bracket is 13" long x 8" wide. The trolling motor base is only 6" wide so you could go with something a little narrower, no less than 6" though.

Below is about the best picture I have of my trolling motor installed. Note: this picture is prior to remodeling the boat. Trolling motor didn't move during the remodel.
