Check the gap on plugs and set

I am needing an owner's manual for a 1994 Johnson 50. Where can I get these at? Also, if you don't put in the spark plug that comes with the motor, will that have much effect on how it runs? I think i know the answer, but just checking. My dad replaced the plugs in our motor and since then it has ran worse than before. I asked him if he put the same kind in that he took out, and he said no because they didn't have those kind in store. I have a feeling that that may be our culprit.
I would make sure I had the recommended plugs. Some run hotter or colder and can actually damage your engine.
Even when you get the right plugs, be sure and set the gap. I just put 3 in mine and two nreeded adjusting.
If you can't locate owners manual on line you might try used book stores. Might get lucky. I've also borrowed one from library and copied the pages I needed.

Check EBay for the appropriate factory service manual. Typically run $20-40 depending on the seller.
