I would get a second opinion. Call Mercury Tech Service Monday morning.
I just did a repower on my boat. My old 40 hp 2 stroke got tired after 23 years of service I put it to rest last week and put on a Merc 60 hp 4 stroke.
Motor sounds and runs great. The dealer added a Mercury Black Max prop and I noticed that it wiggles around a little on the hub. I can move it forward and back 1/8-3/16 of an inch plus it has a little side play, maybe a 1/32 or 1/6". It just seems loose but the prop nut is tight and when I'm running the boat there is no slipping and there is no vibration.
I called the dealer and he said it's normal on some of Merc's props. Something about a different hub. Every other motor I've seen the prop was tight but I honestly don't keep up with all the new stuff.
Anyone have any input on this.

God says he has plans for me.
My 2014 Merc 60 4s prop does the same thing, dealer says it's perfectly normal. Enjoy the new motor.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
Thanks for the replies, I figured something must have changed over the years.
I looked on the Mercury website and after bouncing around a lot I found some info and it appears it's common on several of their hubs.
