the wiring from the plug back and also make sure that the wires in the plug match the ones in the plug on the car, might be something different there also check ground
My truck came with the 7 prong plug. I have borrowed and rented 9 trailers with electric brakes, they worked.
My camper has electric brakes, they don't work. I jacked the wheels up and hooked a battery to each cylinder, they all work.
What do I check next?

I've been doing some overnight reading.
Some trailers have the controller on them. The brakes work off the brake light plug.
There isn't a controller on my camper or truck. I'm looking at the Prodigy P2 #90885 with #3025 harness for my '01 GMC.
Jimmy, do you some more research also, think you should have a brake controller wire and fuse setup in a panel under the hood on drivers side I believe.

A harness kit came with the truck. Been reading the kit today. Controller not included. May need to replace the 15 amp fuse with a 20, 25, 30 or 40 amp fuse.
Some where I have a kit that came with a ford and I'm thinking it had a Big 30 in it.

My GMC came with a pig tail with plug in.......it was in a bag in the glove compartment......all I had to do was connect it to the controller I bought and plug it in under the dash......the truck was already wired and fused for it. It plugged in into a terminal load center under the dash. The controller I bought was a Reese Pod......it was what GM reccomended for my truck. I got a good buy on the controller from Amazon and free shipping.

G, I have the same harness from the glove box. It plugs into the box under the dash. Each wire is labeled where it goes on a controller. Each wire is about 10/12 ft long so the controller can be mounted where you want it.
I looked online at a list of GM recommended controllers and read the reviews. I only read the 5 star ratings. Most were, the controller comes with a harness that plugs into it and you have to connect it to the harness for the truck. All of the controllers varied in price per dealer on ebay and amazon. All had a MLP of $185 to $200.
I've ordered the Prodigy P2 #90885 with 3025 harness for $125 with shipping. The harness is 36" long and plugs into the truck and controller. Some dealers wanted $180 and some wanted $15 shipping for this unit.
You need the controller mounted on the dash so you can manually break just the trailer if you want to. Its mighty nice just to do that when your going down hill.
