    Sorry for the late update but I got it fixed! It sat at the welding shop for a week before they got it in. They were not concerned about the tank. I did drain all the fuel though. Not super impressed with the job but I'm sure its tough overhead and on a old boat with dirty aluminum. As long as it holds. Not great pics but here's a few.

    Why was it stitch welded? I would have wanted a continuous seam.

    That is how it was done from the factory too. If it was solid it could hold water and freeze.

    If its solid water cant get in it. Its solid in my boat.

    The keel seam is welded solid. The cap you see is stitch welded from the factory and that how they put it back together. Sorry it wasn't welded solid for all your viewing pleasure.

    Both are welded solid on mine.....came from factory that way

    so you're saying they took off that channel, welded the seam, and then put the channel back on??

    I miss understood. I thought where you see the welds is where it was leaking.
