Default 2012 lowe stinger 175 60hp 4 stroke prop upgrade.

Looking for some help on upgrading the prop. The main issue I'm having is trouble getting it up on plane. Used to be ok, but with now with 3 batteries and loaded down, hole shot is poor. With the stock prop, I get about 31 mph (gps) at 5800 rpm. Top end speed is ok, just need to get up on plane quicker. Anybody have any recommendations? stock prop is 10.38 dia. x 13P

    Thanks in advance.

Is your motor sitting on your transom? If it is, raise it to where your cavitation plate is even with the bottom of your boat. That should take care of your issue without spending any money.

I have a Tracker 175 with a 60 2 stroke on it. I added a dolphin tail to mine and it will plane at a much lower speed and quicker on plane. I hated trying to ease around and the bow sticking up in the air.

Your RPMs are good so check the prop and see if the blades are cupped. If they are have some vent holes put in the blades.

Thanks for all of the responses. I have a 4 blade prop on order ( needed a spare anyway). I will check motor height. The blades do have some cup to them - I researched the vent holes - very interesting! Just might have to try that!

    Thanks again!

Checked motor height, cavitation plate in line with bottom of the boat. So, I vented the prop (drilled to 3/16") and tested it out yesterday. Had 3 people on board (normally have 2). I think it helped out some, sure didn't hurt. It was different though - rpms jumped up to around 4000 at take off and could tell the prop was slipping more initially at beginning of hole shot. 4 blade prop was at the house when I got home. Can't wait to test it out.

    Thanks for the responses!
