Note, it does have the tow package on it. The trailer package installed would run me close to $500.

Ok guys, this is what I am trying to do ...
Tow package is 1,000 lbs.
If you google "car pull a boat" and click on images, you'll notice a lot of people are doing this.
The boat I want is only package weight 177 Lbs.

You could pull that boat with a bicycle, your car won't have any trouble pulling it. Only suggestion is if you are going up and down hills, take it out of overdrive, but probably don't even need to do worry about that.
Thanks man! Well then that's what I'll plan to do. Get me one of those and a trailer and just a trolling motor and I'll be so happy. Just was concerned about transmission and so forth. The ramp isn't too steep either.
Quick question...how long do you think I could troll before my trolling motor battery dies? My goal is to spider rig.
Good battery you should be able to troll for 6 to 8 hours. I used to fish bass tournaments and troll for 8 hours in a 17' bass boat with 1-12 volt battery. Trolling for crappie you may be trolling at a higher speed and more constant battery may not last as long. Sounds like a plan my son has been taking a 14' flat bottom and trolling motor and wearing the bream and shellcracker out. My advice is watch Craigslist for a good buy in your area. Don't rule out a V bottom....lots of good old V bottoms out there and usually a lot cheaper than flatbottoms around here.

Get you a Minkota motor that has battery saver built in. Lots of their inexpensive motors have it. Prolongs battery life. And don't scrimp on a good group 29 or 31 deep cycle battery. Remember, your going to be tempted to stray from the ramp and spider rigging. Have enough good power to get back if the wind gets up.
Thanks! I'll check them out.
Yeah I wouldn't want to get stuck in the wind again. That was no fun.
I have a 1436 and have a minnkota 40 lb trolling motor and I am yet to kill the battery from daylight to dark. Even pulling crankbaits at 1.5 mph the battery lasted all day. Just make sure and get a good deep cycle marine battery.
