Don't know the difference between original series, digital and now the precision models . The mk212 pc (precision) 2 bankcharger takes about 6hr. to put my batteries ready . I was told to stay 6 amp. per bank(or larger) if fishing late one day and early the next day .

Go to Harbor Freight and buy a cheap 12 volt checker, will solve all your issues. I learned to trust my in boat charger from Cabela's, wish it was a double
How many hours are you calling long ? .8 Hrs. I think would be plenty . Curious what others would say time to recharge with what they use . I know battery condition will play a major role .I single pole fish mainly and yet to spider rig and then charge so I am limited to user experiences . My spider rigging is more of a drift rather than trolling . I would have opted for a larger charger but was told batteries last longer with less amps used to charge . The draw back is the recharge time is longer . I was told to not go under 6 amps. per bank. Those who tournament fish ,pre-fish , or travel great length to fish have a different need than those who fish 6-8 hrs. and rarely back to back days .

Charge time varies. Mostly depends on how far it was drawn down and how big (amps) the charger pushes.
I have a MinnKota dual bank charger, 5 amps per bank and it charges my batteries just fine overnight. One is a group 29 trolling battery and the other is my starting battery. For years I used a ShiptoShore charger by Schumacher.

That ought to get you going.
One thing to check before you buy the charger, make sure your battery fluid is at the proper level.
