    Default Installing Keel sheild question

NFixing to try installing my Keel sheild for a second try,,,, First time I was told to hold off til temp was at least 70 degrees,,, according to Owners of keel sheild,,, that's 70 degrees on boat temperature at the very least,... So first time it didn't hold and I have removed it for attempted number two....should I wait til temps raise far above 70s for a month or two or bring it to a shop where it's heated and let them deal with temp? I'd hate to waste another $275 keel shield....This ones Kevlar, that's why it so much more,,,, I hope it will withstand those concrete freaking Ramos down at Sardis,,,,

I would say let the hull get to the 70 plus range for a couple of days. If that shop has experience installing them you might just be money ahead to let them do it. Like you said 300.00 bucks is a lot to waste if not done right. Don't know if you would want to try this but I have heard of guys pulling them off and reinstalling using 3M 5200 adhesive and that worked for them.

Cray,,,, actually , I do have an extra keel guard now that I took off the old one,,,, It hardly even bonded to the boat the first time,,,, They already sent me my new guard,,,, I've yet to try and install that either....what I'm trying to say is if you'd like to use the old 7 ft Kevlar keel guard , it's almost in perfect shape except for bonding seems to not stick very well,,,, you can try using your 3m adhesive and let me know if it works or not,,,, be a great way for me to use someone else as a Guinea pig instead if me,,, lol
