    Default WHY NO FUSES ?

Recently put two new (not high end)depth finders on my boat and neither came with a fuse or mention the use of one . If I Put them on what size would be best ?may be I missed it but they used to come in the package .

most of the smaller sonars call for a 3 amp fuse, the larger ones like 1197 1199 call for, I think, 5 amp

Get you a couple of these and for your units use 3 amp fuse. Put ring eye to fit battery on one end and solder other end to wire running to depth finder.

I am curious as to the brand of the FF/DF you bought. I checked the Installation Manual for my Humminbird and it clearly states the need for a fuse.

    Quoted here:

Power Supply: The control head must be connected to a 12VDC power supply using a 3 Amp fuse.

It goes on to warn about 24 or 36 Volt systems and gives a drawing of a fuse block.

Most installation on depthfinder instructions call for fuse even if they don't supply one . Trolling motor instructions usually call for inline breaker .

trolling motor has a resistor of sorts that is attached to the wire then to battery post . May be a breaker as you call it . put three amp. breakers on every thing else .

Lowrances come with a small automotive fuse holder with about 4" of wire on each end. The fuse is 3amp
