    Default Console boat to Tiller?

Picked up a Lowe Bass Catcher . These boats don't have the rear casting deck. The Bass Catcher Pro did, but this one did not. So its easy to swap over to a Tiller on the boat. It looks like theirs 6 Rivets holding the console in the boat. 6 holding the piece that the shiftier/controls bolt to.
Couple of weeks back I ran up on a 1996 Mercury/Tracker 40 HP 4 cylinder 2 stroke . Motor looked to be in good shape, and had the controls with it. So took a chance on it got it home. Mounted the CMC tilt on the boat before this. Plan was to use it as a kick up bracket for Reelfoot and Sardis. That way when I hit the stumps the lower unit can tilt forward. It had the Cylinder on it but no controls. So took that part off as I figures would only use it for the kick up bracket.
Well the motor does not have Tilt and Trim, just the hydrolic tilt. Tilt the motor and flip the lever and it holds the motor at that spot. So may fix the CMC to use the tilt on it. Now figured Take hte console off the boat, along with the controls and mounts. And try to sell it on Ebay, as a whole unit. Console, Steering wheel, steering cable, Shiftier and controls with cables for the Mercury. The tiller handle setup is going to run around $300. And then the switch and alarm part $100. So I figure any thing I can get out of all this would make the tiller setup cost that much less.

Will be looking to build sides in the boat like the Side pulling Wareagles and front stick steer boats. Still not sure what I will use for the walls of this. Boat has a livewell under the drivers seat. but would like it on the Port side. But can live with it on the Starboard side. Boat has Aluminium floor in it. So will be looking for 2 of the seat bases with storage under them for center seating and drivers seating in the back. I bought the boat with all this in mind. Where I can build the boat like I want it to be. Will use it on Pickwick for side pulling. Along with the Big 3 in ms for side pulling spider rigging and pulling crank baits out the side also. Plus use it on Reelfoot and the small rivers we have in West Tn. There loaded with fish, but in spots there not 30ft wide. Both of them are still in there natraul state. No dams on nothing still wild rivers with lots of oxbos and logs and logs and more logs..
Long story short anyone else did a build like this? What did you use to build the sides inside the boat?

Pete, are you talking about covering the sides over the ribs? If so if you can find a trailer repair shop lots of time the will have some bent or torn sheets of that aluminum. Have gotten some before I had to just cut off a small section and have a nice piece to work with. If some one has them usually get them for scrap price.

Cray the ribs inside this one is covered. Will be building storage along the sides . Like this one but swap the port to the starboard and Starboard to port. And the Transon of the boat is open. So will be using a Tiller handle on the boat. That way I can side pull out of it also.

Thanks for the ideal on the sheeting from a Semi trailer. Had not thought about that. And have a buddy with around 100 scrapped. He owns 200+ trucks and over the years the drivers have been rough on some of the trailers..
Hope the membrane worked for you on the fluid beds..

Hey, that's my boat . Ok so your wanting the layout like the side pulling version of this. I have been in the sides of mine. The frame work appears to be stamp pressed pieces of aluminum that are made with curves and rolls to get the shapes you see under the carpet then the cover sheets are one piece from gunnel to floor. So if I was doing your project I would cut me some 2x2's and lay it out like you think you want, set it in place then measure and set in boat to make sure it works for you. Maybe even cover it with cardboard to get full effect. Then you could get some aluminum tubing and angle to build your permanent one. If is was doing it, I would make the live well longer and more narrow than the factory one like in some of the Walleye boats. But if you have one with the boat then see if you can work around that. Really want to see what you come up with because I have old one I would like to do the same thing with.
