Trailer tires, load rand B or C

I have a trailer rated for 900 lbs. and I'm needing some new tires. They are the small 8 inch rim ones. Last set I bought I got I bought class B rated for 590 lbs a tire. I looked at the original tires I had and they were rated for 745 lbs a piece even though its a 900 trailer. Should I get the higher rated tires this time or does it not matter since I would not go over 900 lbs?

If I was doing long distance towing at high speed I would go with the heavier tires. If most I local short distance say 40-50 miles one way I probably just go with lighter tires if there is much cost difference.

I do make a long trip to Ontario every year.

Depends on how much you use, how far and how fast,etc. I usually have to change my trailer tires because they have reached the 7 year age mark even though the thread is still good. 7 years is about when the sun will have dried them out enough to start seeing side wall cracks and then it is time to change.
If you do long hauls in the summer heat I would think the heavier duty one would give you a bigger margin of safety from blowout, but if you just running a few miles back and forth on occasion, the the lighter rating should be fine.

Then I would go with heavier tires. I bet when you go on that trip you load a bunch of extra gear in the boat and are probably close to or over you 900.

Always go heavier. Tires are also speed rated, and most trailer tires are rated at 65MPH. If you go faster than that you need to derate the load.
