Default PWM went badly wrong when testing it on my motorguide 70 lbs TM - please help! thanks

i tested my Digital maximizer system on my big foot controlled motorguide 70 lb TM (trolling motor) under 24 volts and it worked beautifully until I fried my TM because I didn't have 50 amps circuit breaker added. Need to troubleshoot it or buy another TM. These big boys are really expensive $500+ for new and $250 for used from my quick research. Bummer.

    1. How do i troubleshoot my TM? I guess i need to open up the trolling motor to check but what exactly do i look for?
    2. How do i add an inline circuit breaker for a 24 volts system if i am lucky to get it back to work?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd6CYI_Inxs

I'm curious as to what you find wrong. Thinking about putting a pwm on my tm. Which pwm did you use?
Can you post a pic of it, and how you mounted it?

A "pwm" is a pulse wave modulator ". It converts the DC to pulses, basically makes it a digital signal.
A cheap way to convert a 5 speed trolling motor to a variable speed motor.
Please correct me if I'm wrong

Definitely worth the money to add PWM. 2 reasons: 1. Increase ur battery run time to twice as long. 2 get set speed to match wind or current which the 5 gears can't do

why not just get a variable speed TM? Almost sounds like it might be cheaper in the long run

Your PWM and your motor will work much better if you run your 24 V motor on 24V. But remember, the PWM does not work at all when running the motor full speed.

yes, i did run my mtoroguide 70 lbs with 24 volts, it showed in my lcd digital meter display. I will be able to prove or disprove your theory after I fix my motorguide 70 lbs TM or buy a new one. I will report back for all to see, but for now please explain so we can learn from your knowledge.

    Thanks.

All the PWM can do is reduce the power going to the motor. Really no way it could cause motor damage with or without a breaker.
