    Default Lund versus Alumacraft?

Looking for comments, advice and recommendations regarding quality, durability and comfort: the Lund 1650 Rebel XL or the Alumacraft Competitor 165 CS. Both are outfitted similarly and will suit for the fishing we'll be doing. Looking for wise words to help me make a choice between the two. Thanks!

Dont overlook the Tracker deep V's. As long as you have a good independent Tracker dealer close by not a Bass Pro Shop.

Both are good boats.....I would pick the one with the best dealer close to you.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I can comment on both of them as I have experience with/owned both.

I have owned alumacraft for the last six years and personally wouldn't own anything else. My father is buying a new boat and will also be purchasing an alumacraft. I sold one to purchase a bigger one. That being said, I will not talk down on something just because of my experience with or propensity to own one over another.

Lund makes a great boat and are loved by many. Alumacraft also makes a great boat. Ask anyone who owns either and they won't talk bad about their brand.

My experience with the Lund rebel.... my good friend has the exact boat you are referring to. He actually stores it in my barn and I have been in it several times.
My experience with the Alumacraft.... I own a 175 competitor Sport

First, I think you are actually comparing apples to peaches. What I mean is that the Lund Rebel would compare more to the Alumacraft Voyager than the competitor. A better comparison would be the Lund Impact to the Alumacraft competitor.
The impact is almost identical to the competitor (two Michigan Members both have Impacts and we compared theirs to my Competitor).

But... you asked about the Rebel versus the Competitor so here goes.
    Major differences I see:
Lund Rebel 1650 Beam is only 84 inches. The Competitor is 87 inches
Lund Livewell is 16 gallons. Competitor is 18 gallons
Both have equal transom height and very similar bow depth.
Both have maximum HP of 90

In comparing the two side by side, the Rebel has a forward livewell where the competitor is in the rear. (when you step up to the 175, you get one front and rear)
The Rebel has more storage compartments. Again, when you step up to the 175 competitor there is way more storage.

Both have awesome fit and finish. Alumacraft has the award winning 2xb hull and all of their inner workings are built with aluminum and not with wood (stringers). Not sure about Lund as I have not looked into it. All Alumacraft boats are float and leak tested prior to finishing and all rivets are bigger than most others. Again, cannot compare the Lund as I have not looked into it.

I guess it would boil down to what you are looking for. If those are the only two boats, and you are looking for storage and a forward livewell... go with the Lund.
I will say that to me, they are a bit over priced. I know that comparing the impact to my competitor put that boat about 6 grand more.

I hope this helps. Any other questions, please feel free to PM me and I will be more than happy to answer them. Both are great boats and great companies. You cannot go wrong with either one.

I have the Alumacraft Competitor 17.5 I have owned many boats, This is the best for me, plenty room and storage. The biggie for me, it will go In 10" water. Don't know about the other. Runs fast with 60hp.
