Your pump with one set is probably right for that motor. On the pin check your local lawnmower shop. They should have one that will work.
Bought it a bit back for my river boat
Got tired of dragging my other flat through woods and paddling, so this is my first actual boat motor.
Saw it run. For$300 I figured OK.
It sat for a month and no run. Would start after pulling my arm out but run out quickly.
Not a mechanic but I'm not scared to try when I have right tools n manual.
Bowl contents. Almost a green silica gel.
Figured ethanol. So pulled the carb completely down to bare bones and Gon dip it.
Question is:
Diagram shows two SETS of diaphragm / gaskets on the fuel pump. An inner an outer set. Mine only had the inner set.
I know the carb has been fooled with a number of times just from the screws n jet heads.
Should I be concerned with missing set? Should I get another set.
Also, I lost (the dog lost) the float pin....
Long story.
Visited a few sites and and can't find that particular part available.
Suggestions? Make my own?
Thx for any help and or suggestions.
Adam

There were only two 6hp models for 1994 on the parts site I just looked at. Both carb diagrams showed the fuel pump system with the 2 diaphragms.
For the float pin, most carb kits come with one. So if you are wanting to rebuild the carb anyways, this might be a good option.
I say you rebuild the carb and get it right then if it still will not run drain the bowl to see if the pump is properly feeding the carb. If not, get new pump diaphragms. If it is then you need to check for good compression and good spark.
I am like scout, get the kit. If it has those check valves on both sides then I should have 2 diaphragms. Since you know it has been fooled with best to go back with new stuff as much as possible. The only other thing would be, since it lists different size motors that it will fit, maybe just maybe it only takes one on the smaller motor but I doubt it.

I would say you need both the inner and outer gaskets. The gaskets are used as spacers as well as to deal the parts. The space created by the gasket allows the diaphragm to move back and forth to pump the fuel. Without both gaskets the pump will not work right.
As mentioned before replace all the old.
Thx for your reply dfar. I really appreciate it.
I've got a vacuum going on and I'm pretty sure it's the culprit. Will report back when and IF I can resolve it.
Thx so much for all the help guys. I really do appreciate it.
Ethonal will definitely mess one up. Loaned out a chainsaw and a weed eater that got the ethonal treatment while it was away. Needless to say I had the go through those carbs and clean out the gunk.
