Default A Little Help on an Outboard

I just got a new PONDTOON 16' boat and now I need a new outboard for it. Starting to narrow things down a little. Because I use it on Penna. state lakes can only be a 20HP motor. Because of dealers in my area I need to choose between Mercury, Honda or Yamaha. Any good input, ideas, problems? would value any info I can get. I know there is a wealth of info out there among you guys. That is what makes this site so great!!!

I think the small mercury is made by tohatsu. I vote for the Yammie 4 stroke also.

Yamaha, mine has been flawless. Now if I was rich and famous I would buy the honda.

I have been running a 30 hp.Tohatsu for 4 years without any repairs.Only changing the lower unit oil. and greasing it. I can't complain about them at all.

Honestly all three make great motors and you probably can't go wrong with any of them.
I have a 21 year old Merc 2 stroke and it runs like a champ and my buddy has and a 18 year old Merc 4 stroke that's been trouble free so I wouldn't rule out Merc.

What ever you decide I would go with a 4 stroke.

I like Honda and Yamaha. But for the price, I would look hard at the camp motors, warranty etc... Outboard Motors For Sale Inventory_20

Made the big decision today! Bought a 20HP Yamaha 20" shaft, electric start, power trim. Looked at Mercury, Honda, Tohatsu, this one looks a lot nicer for sure.Have only had good comments from people that have them. Looking for a lot of trouble free fishing time!! They had a special deal to extend the three year warranty to five years, so I took that also. Wish me luck!!!!
