Default Ribbed vs Poly-Nut rivet Nuts

Want to install ladder to transom and plan to use a rivet nut. Trying to understand difference between Poly-nut and Ribbed nut. Best I can tell on is for flush mount and ribbed gives better torque strength.

Any thoughts on correct riviet nut for ladder installation? Plan to order Marson thread setter tool. Amazon.com: marson thread nut

They are both flush mount. I have used the ribbed before many time. They do hold well if installed correctly. I suggest a couple practice attempts on scrap. The hole size is critical for proper grab. In addition the entire install needs to be done while keeping the insert pressed tight to the material(transom) That can be a little difficult because it takes several pumps of the tool to fully set it. Watch you waterline. To the best of my knowledge they are not watertight.
