Sounds like you need oil. I have always used dexron I I automatic transmission fluid when I have needed to add to mine but I'm sure it depends on the motor make so check with a service shop first so you use the right type. There should be a large flat screw head on the back of the main tilt cylinder. That is where you check/add fluid. With boat level fluid should be right at the bottom of the screw hole.

I would go to the CMC website if you don't have the manual that came with it. I had one for about 20 years but I never had a problem with it so I don't remember how you add oil or what kind. I seem to think they have a customer support line you can call if you run into problems. Good luck

Which model do you have? They use #2216 Mystic or non-detergent oil 20 or 30 weight.

    CMC TILT N TRIM:
To find your fill screw stand at back left side of the motor and look at the top of the hydrolic arm there is a allen head bolt, there is also a label with printing on it to provide you information on the type of fluid to use as refill. he other item you may want to look at are the (2) electronic modules that control the raising and lowering of the lift arm to ensure they are not corroded and not making proper contact. Good luck
