Got boat down from Michigan, interesting first trip to lake
Got my boat down from Michigan yesterday with no problems. Thank you to all who provided ideas and suggestions. Took it out today for an inaugural trip to Watts Bar. Everything boat-wise worked great. Motor started first pull every single time. The rest, not so much.
While stopped at the bait shop to get minnows this morning, someone stole one of my rods out of the boat. Luckily my good one was in the truck. Got to the lake, found a tree top in the main channel, anchored, and was tight lining minnows when I noticed I was drifting. I thought maybe since I moved to the front of the boat and the boat tilted, I had raised the anchor off the bottom, I have gained a bit of weight lately. Went back to check, and the rope was slack. I thought "Well, that's odd, maybe the rope isn't tight enough." Grabbed the rope, nothing. The knot my father-in-law had tied had come undone. -1 anchor. Luckily he gave me three anchors, but of course the other two were at home. On the way home, the top blew off my dad's precious antique Coleman Oscar cooler because I forgot to turn the handle down to where it locks the lid on. I had to use my lunch break to retrace my route and find it, which luckily I did. I guess you have to know my dad, he had an identical cooler when he was my age and always took it fishing, and he bought an antique one off Craigslist for like $90 out of nostalgia a couple years ago. I think he loves it more than me. He always tells me "Take care of Oscar. Don't be puttin any fish in it." when I borrow it.
Last but certainly not least, I got home, and my wife surprised me by telling me she is pregnant.I promise none of this is a joke, I couldn't make it up if I tried.
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.
