I don't think I would feel safe out on the water in that thing, looks like a good boat wake would send you overboard for a swim IMO... Be safe out there when you get it done...
I got this boat as a gift. It is in need of a bit of work, but when done will get me off shore and catching some FISHEE'S.... As you can see the top is in sad shape, but it's just the gelcoat worn off and an extreme amount of oxidation. but Scrapper said it's doable so I will get 'er done. Will keep everyone posted as it goes. Thanks for lookin' in.

Well as with all boats and boating, you have to keep safety in mind. Try not to put yourself in a situation where that will become an issue. It's really no different than being in a jon boat, except this one has taller sides. I'll be alright, but thank you for your concerns and advice.

That will make a nice fishing boat....put you a foot control trolling motor on the front and stick steering and gearshift and a fishfinder up front and you can run everything from the front seat.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Yep, that's the plan "G"... Might tack me a bit of time to get it right....but I'm going to get it right.

Went on line this afternoon and found the controls for both the steering and throttle and shifting. Seeing as how someone removed all the brackets and everything, it will take me awhile to get both kits. Nicks marine in Hustonville, Ky has both kits, and cables including connectors. But I want to get boat body work done first, then worry about all that. Like Johnny Cash sings, One part at a time, Only it's gonna cost a bunch of dimes.....HAHAHAHA!
i ran one like that for years still have it . ran a 50 hp on it . it was a bomber Ouachita made one like that . yes it is a safer boat than it looks like . maybe not in the ocean and around a bass tournament . big bass boats don show any consideration .
retired and now i will always fish
Eric I did'nt mean to be rude, but I fish mainly big reserviors and at times scares me being in a bigger bass boat. Be safe and enjoy your new ride...

There are a lot of folks that do not take the situation into consideration when they do something. It's like, it don't bother me while I am doing this so why should it bother you....But when someone else does it to them, the whole world is coming down around them....Just not right. Life isn't fair, nor a bed of roses. I try real hard to take life day by day and enjoy it as much as I can. But I am just like everyone else, and sometimes the pressure has to release. I try not to let it be around, nor directed at anyone, And sometimes we fail miserably....Eric P.S. No offense taken Shermanator.
Shoot man that dog will hunt! Will be stellar when ya get it done. 2 great sites for ideas and help with glasswork is microskiff and customgheenoe. Both have lots of members in your area with serious glass, gelcoat and paint skills. Most of their builds are geared towards flats fishing but can give you some great advice. Post pics along the way and enjoy.
