Default Scott Atwater 3.6 HP water pump question

Wondering if anyone can help me out as this is the first outboard Ive owned.

I picked up a restored 1953 Scott Atwater 3.6 hp on Craigslist for $100. It starts on the first or second pull and seems to run great, I just don't know how to tell if its pumping enough water.

I am testing it in a water filled trash can since it's January in Indiana, and it seems to spit, but no steady stream. I have not run it for more than 60 secoonds since I dont want to overheat, and have pretty much just ran at idle.

    Any thoughts are appreciated

If in doubt with a waterpump rebuild/replace.

Found some neat sites and some waterpumps for your engine. Here are the links.

Have some pics of your engine?? Would love to see some!
