The lower unit has been installed and the mechanic noticed that the engine was only hitting on 1 cylinder. GREAT! LOVE TO HEAR THAT!!!! The carburator adjustment screw was not the right one either, too small. MORE GOOD NEWS!!!! My friend and I are now suspecting he was taken for a ride on this motor. But it is supposed to be running great now, ONLY cost an extra $200 We will see....

Cray - Thanks again for all of your help. You are appreciated

No thanks needed. Just glad to hear it's finally headed in the right direction. If it's up and running right that is a really good motor and worth the investment. Taken care of it will last a long time.

My friend took the boat out today and said everything ran great. The only question I have is will the engine be powerful enough to get the boat up on plane and scoot. I will have to run it myself to determine that. It does sound encouraging.

My friend ran the boat again this week and it sounds like everything is running great. I am looking forward to get it on the water myself.

I had the same problem with a 25 hp Mercury. I changed the fuel filter and that's all it took. Runs better than ever for about 5 bucks.

Well, I finally had my chance to run the outboard and it running like a scared cat. Motor performed well and started on the first bump. Pushed the boat well, got it up on plane and scooted. The project is a success. Thanks to Cray.
