Thats what I thought. Therefore you should get more run time with a 24 volt( 2. 12 volts wired in series) than a 12 volt with two 12 volt batterys wired in paralel

If the 24v motor uses 30% less amps, and the 12v motor has 50% more available A/H which lasts longer?

If the 24v used 50% less then I agree they would be equal run time, but from the data provided my the manufacturer (on the charts previously posted by someone else) the 24v usage is only about 30% less.

I think about it like the 110 vs 220 volt systems in your home. Running central ac and other large appliances using 220 is just more efficient. Actually costs less to run those appliances with 220.

You are exactly right Slab. If the lower the voltage theory was right we would all have 12V homes. If lower voltage was more efficient transmission lines would be 230 volts instead of 120,000 volts.
The 24 volt system splits the amp draw from the two batteries. That's why a 24v 80 pulls less amps than a 12v 55.

MD.......I changed from 12 volt sytem to 24 volt system based on reccomendation of a battery manufacturer reccomendation because I was pulling crankbaits at 1.8 MPH and I was running out of battery in about 4 hours........now on 24 I can run over 6 hrs and still have battefy left.

This link is what I am saying. Ohms law explains why exact hp motors (one 12v and one 24v) consume the same amount of energy. You can't get something for nothing. Forget thrust. Thrust, being a static value, decreases as soon as there is movement.

Here is the rest of the story. It is the battery that gives the 24v a slight edge in run time, not the motor itself. Ohms law say I am right. , but Purkert's law explains the difference. It is the batteries and their construction that make the difference.
