I know each has 2400 watts available, but since the 12 volt system uses less than 2x the amps that the 24 volt system uses per lb of thrust it will last longer on the same available power.
You want to say that the 24v system uses less amps, but are forgetting it takes TWICE the voltage.
The 12 volts DOES require 1.1 to 1.2a which means the "POWER it draws" is 12 x 1.2 or 14.4 WATTS for each lb of thrust
The 24 volt ONLY requires .85a which means the "POWER it DRAWS" is 24 x .85 or 20.4 WATTS for each lb of thrust

How is using 20.4W LESS then using 14.4W? for the same thrust result?

    Article is correct

See any of the below links, or google "amperage of batteries in series"

Yes it takes twice the voltage on the 24 volt system but your 12 volt system takes twice the current as my 24 volt system. You keep leaving that part out. Remember power is current times volts and this is why my 24 volt 100 amp hour has the same power as your 12 volt 200 amp hour.

You need to multiply your final numbers by a 2 to 1 ratio for the 12v system to make up for your current usage and your formula will be correct. In your scenario the 24 volt would be at 20.4W and the 12 volt system would be at 28.8W. This is now correct........

We know the voltage it takes for each and the current it takes for each so we just need to calculate how much power each on will use to produce that 1 lb of thrust

    24v P= .85 x 24 = 20.4w
    12v P=1.2 x 12 = 14.4w

I just can't see how you figure 20.4 is LESS then 14.4
Dang sorry man if you know how much power it take to produce 1 lb of thrust !!!!you need to running the show at Minn Kota !!! what I would like to know is how you came up with that one !!!!!

Since we have thoroughly hi-jacked Eric's thread I am closing it. Feel free to start a new thread on whatever subject you can get out of all this.
