Default Kill switch on 25 hp evinrude

My first time on here, long time lurker, got a question? The factory kill switch on my 25 hp evinrude went out. So I replaced it with an aftermarket one. 10$ vs 100$. No brainier huh. Well now I have to use the emergency kill switch to kill my motor. Is there any way to hook up a kill switch in conjunction with the emergency kill switch?

Sounds like you didn't wire the "new" kill switch correctly, or it's not working properly.

MDCrappie, thanks for the reply, but it is wired correctly, it is just that the aftermarket switch is strictly a emergency stop, and the factory was a 2 way switch. it had the emergency stop as well as a a kill button.

Gotcha - the original was one of the push switches with the pull cord clip around it. All you have to do is wire another switch that is "normally open" in parallel. Best to get a "momentary" push button.

Shellback, I am no computer guru, but on the website I normally order my outboard motor parts, the switch was 90plus dollars! What was the price of your neighbors if I may ask?

It wouldn't be so bad if you could get an aftermarket switch that would do both as the factory switch did! I've got a momentary switch ordered for the kill button that cost a whole 1.89. Shipping will probably be more! Listen up all you electrical engineers!
