Default Is 15 more hp worth it?

I have a crestliner cx 17 just like this one http://www.boattest.com/boats/boat_video.aspx?ID=1206 . I bought it with a mercury 4 stroke 60 horse on it. I get about 40mph out of it, and the hole shot isn't to bad with a light load, but seems to struggle a bit when a decent load is put in it. I'm sure a smaller prop may help this, but then it would hurt my top end right? The boat is only rated for a 75, so will 15 more horses make a decent difference or should I just save my money for more boat and motor in few years.

Don't know the answer to your question but I would be interested in your 60 if you upgrade

What 75hp are you interested in replacing the 60hp with? If the 75 has the same number of cylinders and similar displacement, then you won't see much if any difference on holeshot with the 75hp. It all depends on which 75hp you get. If it's a 75hp that has the same block as a 90hp, it might be worth it.
ALmost surely, you'd be better off with a different rig with more power and space in the boat.

The 75 horse mercury has the same block as the 90 and 115 so the block is bigger for sure.

is that on GPS or a speedometer if your getting 40 out of it witha 60 your doing good. Your going to add alot of weight going to the 75 may not add any speed

yes to the above......what you got works......40 mph is pretty good......you will most likely want another boat (not that you are unhappy with this one) someday and the new motor will not get you any more money when you sell this one.....
