    Default Lower unit oil

I have a 1989 Johnson GT 150hp motor and I want to change the lower unit oil but I have never done it before. What type of oil/lube and weight should I use.

Ranger if you have one close go to dealer and get the recommended oil. Also you have your drain and vent plug to remove. You should get new seals for those plugs and replace them.

Yes, always replace those seals. You may be surprised as to how many people don't even know there are seals there because they often do not come out with the plug. New ones are very cheap insurance against water intrusion.

Johnson and Evinrude was bought out by Bombardier Recreational Products in 2003. OMC oil is still readily available.

Go to NAPA get your lower unit oil and buy the seals for your engine. Pretty simple. I have no interest in NAPA either. Just saying.
