if you have the battery next to you up front you should have a fuse or circuit breaker on the trolling motor and a 3 amp fuse for the depth finder. If there's a problem with either one the fuse/breaker will blow and not the battery. Even with fuses I'd still have it in the box and strapped down so it won't move on you.

Im gonna buy the battery box that I posted. It has a built in 60 AMP fuse in the box. The DF and lights are run off a separate battery. Im going to strap down the Batt box on the box of the boat where it will be out of the way. gonna try to find some clips to put either a ratchet strap or tight bunjee cords on it to keep it from moving while on the water.

You can get a 12v deer feeder battery to run the FF and will last all day or several days/trips depending on the FF. A simple 2d w/ gps for sure, not sure about how long the deer feeder battery would last powering a DI/SI/GPS unit. Hook the lights up to the deep cycle battery if you don't use them much.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I bought a everstart marine batt deep cycle batt today. is the size 27DC batt. Couldnt find the box for it, may just wire up a 50 or 60 amp fuse and put it in a regular battery box.
