I have been a firm believer in Seafoam and have been trying some Startron in different engines around the farm. I have treated a 300 gal barrel of gasoline, with Startron so far seems to do as stated on the bottle, this barrel lasts about 3-5 months for us. I am not sure if it has the cleaning action that Seafoam does but so far no complaints from any of the farm machinery it has been run in..

If you are looking for something to treat ethanol, try Lucas Ethanol Treatment and Stabilizer. It's realy good stuff and it treats 80 gallons. Startron only treats like 25 or 30 for the same money. If you are looking for a good injector cleaner that treats ethanol and has punch to it use Sea Foam or K100g. K100g is better than Sea Foam, and most often cheaper too. They both treat 25 gallons as well.

I use the K100g when I change oil in my Jeep, and use 4oz of Lucas Ethanol Treatment in every tankfull. We have Marinas and Landscapers in our area that order it (Lucas)by the case.

Hope this helps. It's allwasy nice to find a product that Works and saves some cash.
Wishing you Blue Skies and Tight Lines

I'm not saying at all that StarTron isn't a good gas stabilizer, but NO stabilizer will undo the effects of ethanol in gas. You just can't add enough stabilizer to overcome the effects of phase separation; that's what happens when the ethanol attracts water and separates in the tank. Since the ethanol/water suspension is heaver than gasoline it settles in the bottom of the tank and gets sucked up in the fuel line. The only way to be absolutely sure is to use non-ethanol gas with a stabilizer--StarTron, Seafoam or Stabil. If you can't find non-ethanol gas at your local station go to a marina or a local airport 7 buy av-gas. (Question: if StarTron was so great at fighting ethanol, why don't airports buy ethanol gas & put StarTron in their tanks? Answer: if your outboard screws up you can get towed it...try towing in a small plane!). If you must use ethanol fuel, put a stabilizer such as StarTron or Stabil (not Seafoam--it already contains alcohol) in it and don't keep fuel in the tank over a couple of weeks. If it goes more than about a week, pour it in your car--it will burn ok there. The reason it works in cars is that the gas doesn't sit long enough in the tank to separate.

I have two outboard 2 cycle motors that have been used during summer months only for about 20yrs. I have used stabil since it and ethanol blend came out and then later seafoam,I have left the fuel in the tanks over the winter and then in the spring I have started and ran them with no problems.
If you want to get fuel at the marinas then do it. But I would not spend the money on expensive aviation fuel unless you check with your motor manufacturer first.
Besides Aviation fuel is 100 octane and most outboards do not have the timing set to burn it correctly. Most of the outboards are timed to use 87 to 91 octance.

The bottle of Startron I have says it treats 128 gallons of gas. I didnt think that was bad for under $10.00....

I believe av gas used in small planes is 87 octane. My brother owns a small plane & I'll check with him to be sure.

I was wrong: av gas is 100 octane.
