    Default Bad ignition switch???

Boat has been running fine and last time out while unloading There was no power to either fish finder. Boat start fine and idled till warm. Ran across lake for a couple of minutes and motor just suddenly died and wouldn't start. It would turn over and run as long as I held the key on. It would die if put in gear but run as long as I held the key on. The second I would release the key it would die. Did this several times. The starter would kick out like its supposed to. The ignition switch was replaced this last summer. Do I have a bad ignition switch?

There shoud be a plastic plug on the wiring harness behind the key switch, if it's in the dash, when you get it running you can unplug that switch and see if it stays running, then you'll know if it's the key switch, this motor has only one power pack so it could be an ignition problem there.

I had this Problem on a 1996 Johnson Ocean Pro 150 one time , it turned out to be a Bad Stator. A pretty expensive repair about 350.00 for stator alone.
