I'm gonna be looking at a 88 Winner with a 175 Mariner. The seller is the second owner and the boat appears to be solid (according to pics). After i actually inspect the hull and everything, i was wondering what type of compression i should be looking for on the OB. Also, the seller said he had intermittent issues with the motor tilting up while underway. Is this an issue with fluid/pressure? Thanks for your help.
#1 go to bass boat central and look at posts on there about those boats. Supposed to be good boats and supposed to be little if any wood in them. Take a rubber hammer or something like that and tap around on transom checking for any rot especially around bolt holes. Trim could be a switch or relay. Pretty nice looking boat. Good luck on it.

If those are current pics, that's a heck of a good looking rig. Compression on my 150EFI is 120.
Good looking boat

I would tell him if it's gonna sit outside un-covered PULL the DRAIN PLUG, what keeps water out also keeps water in, causing wire connector problems on pumps and stuff when it fill up with water like in the pic of the drivers seat with control and about an inch of water on the floor which means it's full to the drain in the floor. i have that exact same boat and have nothing but good things to say about it, i believe it was the original all fiberglass tramsom boat and seems to be very solid for the original price very similar to the early stratos boats. every time i take mine out i get a lot of compliments on it and have had several offers on it, i dont think youll be disapointed in it....

The motor trimming itself out would probably and intermittent electrical issue. Archerguy1 can help you with that one.
