    Default Minkota trolling motor help

I got a 46lb thrust foot control that the wires on the underside of the foot control are getting hot. Put new ends on the wires and made sure connections were good. What else do i need to check?

You don't say which wires but have you pulled the prop to make sure there is no line wrapped around inside there?

One other thing to check after looking for weeds, fishing line under the prop is while prop is off, loosen one of the long screws behind the prop holding the motor head to the front plate and pull it out about 1/2 way, if there is rust on that screw water has gotten into the motor and is causing the motor to burn up. If it's good , newer motors have circut boards that can cause the same thing.
