    Default Bearing grease

When packing boat trailer bearings do you use waterproof grease or just regular wheel bearing grease?

I use bearing grease made specifically for marine applications. There are a lot of different brands and many opinions on this site as to which is best. My mechanic told me to use grease that is labeled for "extreme pressure". I've used some made by Johnson-Evinrude that works well. Also got some at Wall-mart that worked well, but I can't remember the brand.

definitely waterproof grease. panther red hi-temp grease is what i've been using for 30 or more years without a bearing failure. do not get it on your clothes. it won't wash out. we used it on cotton pickers and combines for years on the farm in high speed bearings. it's high. ask some farmers and if you find one using it see if they will sell you a tube or two. or tractor supply has a green water proof grease. i don't know if it's as good as the panther from panther industries.

Panther grease is the Cats meow but I started using the Valvoline red grease from Napa because it's easier to get and like it very well so far with no problems but I take my hubs apart every other year clean and repack and haven't had any bearing problems...
