I was trying to figure this out for replacing bunk carpet. wonder if you could use an engine hoist on the bow and stern. I'll probablly just dock my boat for a couple days on someones pier and work on the trailer then.
Want to lift my boat off the trailer to do some work to it. It has a 75 hp motor on the back so thats really the only weight any ideas on how I can lift or jack it up?

I would start by jacking up the back of the boat up off the trailer and then block it up with cribbing (pieces of 6x6 and other various pieces of wood) or jack stands on top of concrete blocks or something else that won't break under the weight of the boat. I would then raise the front of the boat off of the trailer with a come along attached to a roof truss in a barn or garage or maybe an engine hoist and slowly pull the trailer out from underneath the boat, cribbing and supporting the boat every 4 to 5 feet. I've done this with my 16' PolarKraft a couple of different times and it works well. Work in reverse to get the trailer back under the boat.
The other idea would be to take the tools and supplies you would need and head to the closest launching ramp and do the work there after you launch the boat.
Thanks for the info, I think I will make up my bunks and take them to the lake with me then.I was hoping to do it at the house so I could do some other things to the trailer but it sounds like it would be easiest to just put them on at the lake.
I let my tongue all the way down and put blocks under the rear of my hull. Cranked the tongue back up all the way which lifted the rear off the bunks. Then ran ratchett straps under the front of my hull to garage door and lowered tongue down and pulled trailer out. Re worked my trailer and reversed process.
x2Now that's some good ole American ingenuity, I enjoyed reading your post. Thank You

x3...slick slick...M.I.T could not have done it easier
If your putting on new bunks, do it at the lake. It only takes a couple minutes, have them cut and ready to go, and just do it the parking lot.
