Mid 70's with that Skeeter would be very optimistic. The 190's that were built in the late 1990's were not 18.5' they were 19.5' and max rated for a 200hp motor. It is basically the same thing as a ZX200 today. Skeeter changed their model numbers about 2000 but I don't recall exactly what year. Most of the guys running the 19.5 foot Skeeters with 200's are seeing anywhere from 68pmh up to about 72 depending on set-up, prop, jackplate height, load, etc. That Sprint with a 225 I would expect to break 70 pretty easy but I can't give a concrete number cause I don't know all that much about them. I do however have a lot of seat time in a Skeeter. They are nice boats and provide a very stable fishing platform. BTW that is an all composite hull on that one which is denoted by the "C" in the model number. They added the "C" in the model number for a while when they were transitioning from wood transoms to all composite hulls after Yamaha acquired the company (I believe that was 1996 is memory serves me).

The Skeeter 190c with a 200 should see 70+ easy with a 10" jackplate and about a 26" prop. The Sprint with the larger 225 I have seen hit as much as 76mph GPS with a 10-12" jackplate and a worked prop. I have a friend that fishes tournaments out of a 190 and have ridden in several Sprints. The sprint is a fast hull with the right setup dialed in and handles rough water comparable to a Champion. You really can't go wrong either way if the outboard checks out.

I dont have any need for a powerhouse like some of these fellas do but I do have a 50 horse on my alumacraft and I love it. I used to buy only johnson or evinrude but after having this yamaha I will probably never have anything other than yamaha.

Ok, at the risk of sounding like the "downer" I will put my 2 cents. I owned a Yamaha 90 2 stroke and it pushed my 18 ft Polar Kraft around 38 MPH but, it DRANK the gas. I did have some problems with the foot in that the seal design was faulty and twice line got between the prop and the foot cutting the seal and caused the foot to lock up. Both times I called Yamaha and they said just have the machanic send the bill to us. SWEET!! That was great customer serves but, then came the biggy. Going down the lake and all the sudden the motor lets loose and blowes a head. NICE!!! I call Yamaha and was informed that my warrenty had expired EXACTLY to the DAY 3 weeks prior. NO~~~~!!!!! The cheapest machanic that I could find to replace it wanted $4,500. Yikes. All that being said, I have a tiller 25 four stroke and the only complaint that I have with the little motor is that when it's cold it has a crazy way that it wants to be started. Other than that it runs like a little top and hasn't left me stranded. Oh, and it makes gas I believe. I can fish and hunt for EVER on a 12 gal tank. I hunted 9 days straight days last year duck hunting before I filled it up.That is awesome gas mileage. I am looking into another boat and will put a Yamaha F115 4 stroke on it. If the boat won't operate with that motor I click to the next one that will.

You will love the F115. The fuel injection is great, just hit the key and she purrs like a kitten no matter how hot or cold it is outside. The carb four strokes are a lot more sensitive hence, the starting issues with the 25hp you have. You will not have that at all with the injected motor.

Had a 30 on my last boat. Never had not 1 problem. Had the longest warranty in the business, 3 yr., and a 100:1 oil mixture. Great motor. A friend of mine has it now and has only had to replace a pump impeller and tune it up. Not sure about the bigboy motors !!!

I've got a Yamaha 90 hp 2 stroke on my G3. I just do the routine maintenance and have had no problems with it for 4 years now. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself!

I also had a mechanic tell me that he sees fewer Yamaha breakdowns than any other brand. The worst enemy of any motor is ethanol gasoline and not running them. The ethanol issue is greatly improved by installing a water separator filter, since ethanol absorbs water. Racors are hard to beat and for <$100, that's cheap insurance. The other part is that they need to be run. I was told that even if you aren't going to put it in the water, put the water muffs on it and run it at least every couple of weeks. The problem is aggravated by having smaller jets and they tend to clog up with lack of use. Mine had sat for a long time before I bought it and had a pretty bad lean sneeze. I had the carbs cleaned and it runs like a bandit
