    Default Gas Tanks

A friend of mine has been having trouble with his motor. Has had it in the shop several times for fuel problems they told him that the Ethanol is causing his problem they also said that Marine Stabil and Startron are eating away at the plastic gas tank causing more problems.
Has anyone else heard of this?

I have ran stabil in a plastic tank since 1995 and have not had a problem. Ihave also heard that ethaol will leech the resins out of older fiberglass tanks. If that helps.......Granite

Ethanol causes those type problems in very old motors. Certainly not a newer one.

Ethanol WILL eat the liner inside the fuel lines and the older plastic floats in the carb engines. Any amount of ethanol is not good for any type of engine, old or new up to 10% but will run. Now with them using the E85 fuels it will void any warranties of ALL marine engine manufacturers. E85 is a total different animal, But we have not seen or heard of any problems with fuel tanks.
