    Default Cavitating on take off?

I have a bass tracker 3 with a 48 spl evinrude. The cavitation plate is about an inch above the bottom of the boat. The problem is that when i take off if i have it tilted up it will start cavitating once it its about midspeed and will not plane out. But if i have it tilted down almost all the way down it will cavitate for a second or two but it will plane on out. It runs decent like this but the bow is down into the water. Would a hydro foil help correct this? I figure im lossing a little top end speed and using more gas than necissary. I have a slightly higher pitch prop i could put on? Im at a loss? My motor only has a tilt option not trim? Any suggestions? Im thinking cavitation due to the sudden increase of rpms and loss of thrust, the clutch on the prop looks fine?

Are props aluminum or stainless? if aluminum, first i would swap and see what happens. If it does the same thing you might need to drop motor down 1 notch on transom then see how it performs. Alum has to run lower in water than stainless. Hope this helps some. I don't think Hydrafoil will help cavitation problem/ will help lift rear of boat quicker when everything else is working right.

Cavitation plate on motor is too high it needs to be even with the bottom of the boat......thats what they told me when they set my G3 boat up anyway and I have no problems with cavitation.

X2 All of my Aluminum boats decav plates were even or slightly below the bottom of the boat. None were more than 1/2" below.
