since the bulb collapses it seems to me like a blockage of some kind not an air leak. i ordered the boat so it didn't sit around but war eagle buys the tanks so i don't know when the tank was made. anyway i think i'll chase down a way to test the anti-siphon valve and the cap vent.

took the deck over the gas tank off and checked the vent, ok. took the anti-siphon valve off and blew through it, ok; tried to blow back towards it from the bulb side, i couldn't, ok. it (hopefully) must've been a bad bulb. i'm going to take it to lake anna and run it, hopefully the problem's solved. thanks for the imput.

had the same problem on a 25hp was the quick disconnect, but I dont know if you have one on your motor. took the quick disconnect off the tank hooked it straight to tank solved problem. motor not sucking gas from tank just out of hose

thanks joe, just got back from the lake. boat ran great for about 1/2 hr then it got starved for fuel again. a couple of new observations: the bulb collapses and in order to reinflate it all i needed to do was loosen the hose clamp on the engine side of the bulb. after it reinflates, as i pumped the bulb i could hear the anti-siphon devive click for about 8 pumps then it would stop clicking. it would start and run at 1000rpms for about a mile then it would stop again. there isn't a quick connect at the tank. makes me wonder if there's something on the motor side that's the problem??

If the primer bulb is collapsing then the problem has to be between the bulb and the tank. The fuel pump is doing it's job by putting a suction on the line but if the vent in the tank can't work then it can't suck fuel up and the bulb will collapse. You can verify this by borrowing a portable tank and hose and trying that. Where do you live in Va?

everything you say makes sense bill. sounds like my next step. thanks. inside the flip-open gas filler lid is a plastic disk on top of a rubber diaphram. the disk has a screw in the center; just in case it hadn't been adjusted i backed off the screw 1 1/4 turns. but to answer your question i live in stafford county, just north of fredericksburg.

I'm not sure what that is but it may be the vent. If you lived a little closer I would be glad to come by and give you a hand.

Could be something in the tank that blocks off suction tube, like maybe the silver sticker on the top of a stabill bottle or something in that order that would float around and get sucked to the tube. When motor quits it will fall off or float away till it gets sucked up again.

next time bulb starts to flatten open gas fill lid this should vent tank. on my 25 the tank was venting, it was connection to gas tank, not fun when new boat dont work right. bought my new boat over 150 miles from home, done some minor fixin myself rather than take it back. Im thinkin anti siphon thingamajiggy
