    Default built in tackle storage

I think im finally going to be productive and extend the front deck on my old boat. i plan on taking pictures so other people can get ideas from it.
what i would like some opinions on is this, i want to build a compartment for some tackle boxes (plano tray style)
here is what i have, a big tackle box that has 4 trays in the bottom that come out, im thinking of using those, because i dont want to buy planos (too expensive) either that or buy some off brand of the same style.
what i cant decide is should i make a box in the floor built to size with cut outs so that the tackle trays will slid ein and out like drawer slides (the boxs i have are made to do this)
or should i make a compartment big enough for a milk crate so that i can put the boxs in the crate and take all my tackle out at the end of the day?
or does anybody have any other suggestions?
any thing else you guys think i should add in to the addition?
im thinking about making a place for the trolling motor batteries, and possibly the on board charger, anything else i should do while im there?

Without seeing the boat, it is kinda hard to picture what I would add. But when I add new features to a boat, I think mostly about the weight I'll be adding and trying to balance that weight evenly across the boat. I've always liked having places for things and them not under my feet somewhere. The lifevests, anchors, cushions, and dry storage are my biggest concerns and then I think about tackle storage. For instance, I added storage to the front of my v-hull for lifevests, and then dry storage in the floor in front of the front pedestal seat. I then took the bell housing from under my driver seat and made a box with a fliptop to fits all my plano boxes or a minnow bucket. It currently holds the minnow bucket since I like the idea of not having to worry about it spilling going to the lake or on the lake. Just some of the things I done in the past. I would do a simple sketch on paper and place things where I want them if the room would allow it. Hope this helps. Rollcaster........................................ .............

I was thinking about doing this with my last boat. I decided it would be easier to get a new boat as I was looking at doing over $3,000 in mods to my boat. Anyway, I was going to make some storage where I could mount the boxes vertically rather than horizontally, with a hinged cover so it would be easier to access them, I would not have to bend over or nearly lay on the deck to see which box was which. I was also going to use a Brother labeler and label the individual boxes as to what they were, worms, small crank baits etc. Your mileage may very, but I thought that system would work well for me. I was going to put these under a lockable lid so I would not have to take them out every time I got home, as I was doing with my tackle boxes. So, it was the same drawer slides idea as yours but vertically stored rather than horizontally, and under a lockable lid.

Like rollcaster said. Start with Drawing of what you have and add what you want. Then I would go to all the boat web sites and look at pictures of what they offer. see if there is something you like then incorparate that to drawing. you could also add estimated weights to these locations for balance. Also tin boat.com is a good place to look. Those guys on that site do some amazing stuff with small boats.

well im currently working on the boat, but ive decided against making the storage, there is a spot in front of the console that cant really be used for something, but it is perfect size for a milk crate, so i think ill just put my tackle trays in a milk crate, so that they are easier to take in and out, im spending my time, cleaning up the wiring and installing my new on board charger.
my front deck could easily be extended 15 inches, but i dont have enough time to finish it this weekend, and for some reason my dad doesnt want to trip over my boat in his barn for a few weeks until i could work on it again.
