Default 90 hp merc trim leaking

I have a 2000 90 merc and have noticed the trim is leaking fluid from the seal on the ram at the top. THe unit works but I have to keep filling it up. I saw the rebuild kit for the trim unit, which is pretty much just the orings, is about $12. Has any body rebuilt one of these? I've been trying to find some literature on disassembly, but can only find the parts breakdown, and Im not sure how to get the seal replaced at the ram. Anyhelp appreciated.

I have not rebuilt one but do know of a cure that worked for me years ago. There is or was a product called "Cargo-Tuneup" an additive. It used to come in an 8 oz. bottle & is a red liquid. If you can find it try adding ~1/2 oz or so to your hydraulic fluid. It swells rubber O rings & if not cracked it will stop leaking or it at least worked for me. You can add the rest to your Gas Tank. It was a fuel/transmission additive. I haven't looked for it in parts stores in years. I did a Google search & couldn't find it.
