    Default Seafoam or Marine StaBil

I bought my boat new in 2005. Up until march of last year I've never had any problems out of it and I had to put carb kits in it. Not bad, I got 5 years out of them. I took it back in last week for its early season tune up and guess what, new carb kits again. The mechanic said its this gas with ethenol in it. He suggested the marine stabill. Someone else told me seafoam. What do you guys think is best? I have found me a station in town that advertises "no ethanol" that I'm going to start using but I want to put some kind of additive in it also. Thanks in advance.

That's what I do is buy ethanol free gas, there's only a couple stations in the area that sell it though. As far as the marine stabil/ seafoam additive, I actually use about an ounce of each one in every 6 gal. of gas I put in my boat. I had my oiler unhooked and mix my gas and oil myself so I just put it right in when mixing it. Haven't had any issues.

Why did you unhook your oiler? just didnt trust it? I have wondered about it also. But I mark the tank everytime and it uses a little more than it should. But when it stops i guess its too late. They should have a safety swicth that kills the motor if it quits pumping.

Yeah didn't trust it. I figured it was just a matter of time before it quit working and like you said it's too late then. This way I know there's the correct amount of oil in the gas.

Is your gas additive safe with E10 fuel?
This link is the best info I've found on the subject. After reading this I use Stabil Marine and nothing else. Have had no carb or fuel system problems. Hope this helps.A fuel/water seperator is also cheap insurance.

I know it is a matter of choice. But if you read the link Specklater posted it just makes sense. If you are worried about ethanol then why use an alcohol based fuel additive??? Read the article and it will fill in the blanks.

Same here! Also use QuickClean, I don't think with this gas now a days you can put too much. Just my 2 cents,
