Angry Can't keep trailer tires !!!

Got a 07 Tracker tx 190 and can't keep tires on this trailer going to be buying my third set directly. I have never had a problem with this on any other trailer I've owned,I can't make up my mind if it's the axle on the trailer or the trailer tires they are making the days. I would estimate I'm getting about maybe 2000 or so miles on a set of tires. The inner treads pop out and the outer treads get eat up. Pressure is checked reguarly and even had em balanced which I've never had to do. I have talked to a few that had the same problem and they switched to car radials and that seemed to eliminate their problems. How about you ?????????

Tony, Most often if your axle is failing, they wear opposite of what yours are. Usually it's the inside wearing because the as the axle weakens, it bows upward on the outside causing the tires to wear on the inside. New axles have a downward bend to the outside, so as you load them up they flatten out, rather than bending up on the outside. If you are wearing out the outside of the tire, it sounds like your axle has too much of a bend in it, from the factory, or possibly hitting something. Put a string from side to side on the bottom of the axle, and see if it's bowed too much in the middle. Here's a link that explains axle camber. Trailer Parts Superstore - 2200 lb. Round Tube Trailer Axles CAMBER: Axles are cambered or 'road set' so there is a bow until weight is put on the axle. All cambered axles should be mounted with the center bow up. With your boat loaded, if it looks like too much camber, maybe you need a new axle.

Hey brother, just rode that horse. It stinks! 07 trailer I'd replace the bushings and bolts, repack the bearings, and have alignment checked. It'll cost you the price of a set of cheap tires, but save you the price of three minimum. You can probably do everything except the alignment if your so inclined, but thats not exceptionally difficult either. I had to replace my axle, bushings and bolts, alignment, all new $415/ 3yr warranty. Good luck

What kind of tires and what pressure are you running?

What do you mean by the inner treads pop out?

Is the damage uniform around the tire or is it concentrated in spots?

Both sides wearing at the same rate?

Had the original tracker tires on it to start with , then put a set of high-run tire wheel combos from tractor supp. Both sets called for 50 lbs, currently running 40 in the last set. What happened to them is the outside of each tire on both sides got completely knocked off with middle 3 treads raising up and checkering like belts cut loose. Got 5 other trailers and never had this problem with any of them. I'm starting to think it is the trailer, never been satisfied with it anyway. A 19' boat ought to be running at least a 14" tire, if not a 15" tire. Alum. tracker boats and most others come 13" wheels now due to saving a dollar.
