I've searched through this thread and can't find the answer to my question, so I'm asking this. I troll (for walleye) with my main outboard (not a Kicker) at idle speed which is around 2 mph depending on the wind. I would like it troll a bit slower. The motor is a 60 hp four stroke. The boat is an 18 ft. Bass Tracker aluminum. What prop can I put on the motor to allow it to push the boat as slow as possible? And how would that prop affect other performance i.e. planing out, top speed, etc.?
thanks in advance

the motor is a Mercury, I forgot to say.

Like bill said...you can play with props and never get it quite right...you can put the plate on it and adjust the amount of thrust pretty easily. You may also want to try a drift sock to slow you down...may be a bit cheaper still.

I have a Mercury 4 stroke EFI 60 hp 2005 model and I'm having trouble. I launch and run three miles or less. The motor runs perfect. I fish a hour or so. Start motor. It idles rough sputters and quits. I try again same thing. Check bulb in gas line and it is not full. take gas line off motor and bleed some gas out reattach gas line and pump bulb tight start motor . It takes off runs 20 sec, losespower sputters and dies. I do that ten times as I'm far from help and I don't know what else to do as I'm a mechanical moron. Then lo and behold it fires up runs perfect and gets me home.
It's done that every time I've had it out this spring. And done it off and on for 4 years but only did it one time last year
The motor has new plugs and is serviced regularly by a local mechanic. He does not have a computer to hook the motor up to. So he has to guess. Like new fuel pump etc.
So I'm exasperated. Should I go to a computer owner? What do you guys and gals think?
thanks in advance

Put a one way check valve in fuel line. Run sea foam because it sounds like a trash issue. Also. Unscrew fuel filter housing and clean fuel filter
