Two words- Optima battery, expensive but worth every cent, I have a couple that are 6 years old that are still performing just fine.

First a battery that has 12.65 volts has a full charge. With the motor running you should have at least 13 volts closer to 14 volts. I had a battery that kept going dead I took all the wires off the ground and one at a time touched the battery post . I found one that would spark it was for the marine radio. disconnect it and it solved the problem. Even thought the radio was turned off it was still drawing juice.
