    How determine if a motor will work a boat?...I am probably going purchase an older ranger with a 10hp mercury..But, I have a 25hp envirude that I am wanting to put on it....Just want to know how you determine if the engine will work with that boat?...I am not sure if goes by the shaft of the engine or what?...Would appreciate some info this..

    There should be a plate in the boat saying what the boat is rated for motor wise. Next measure the transom and then measure the motor from the top of the transom mount to the anti cavitation plate. The distances should be about the same. Another words you want the anti cavitation plate as close to even with the bottom of the boat as possible.

    Its the plate just above the propeller.
