    Default No Oil warning

Started up the boat for the first time this year. After it ran for about ten minutes my oil light came on. I have a seperate resevoir that hold oil for my 40 hp evenrude. Plenty of oil in it. I pumped it a few times but it barely compressed. I tried again and it ran longer about 15 minutes then it the alarm went off again.

What is my next step? I do not claim to know anything about motors but if there is something I could try before I take it to the shop please let me know.

    Thanks.

YES if it's a 2 stroke disconnect it and add oil to the gas never any doubt that way. if it's a 4 then no clue except oil pump.
