    Default sand blasting trailer help?

i have a trailer that desperately needs sand blasting. in talking with my buddies i have found a total of 5 trailers that need sand blasting. i was wondering if any of you have sandblasted your trailers? i was thinking about buying a sandblaster since there are a few of my buddies trailers that need it also. i found one at harbor frieght for about $120 dollars that will connect to my compressor. also a small portable one on ebay for $40? are these type units worth the money or are they junk? how much sand should it take to sandblast a trailer? just looking for any input before i spend the money on one . thanks any input or advice that would make the job easier would be great also. i am wanting to completely restore a 1988 350 ranger that i bought. i wanted to start from the ground up.

If it was me i would have it done i,ve got one of those small blasters it will do the job but it,s kinda slow. If you buy one make sure it,s the one with the pressurized tank i would think it would take 4 or 5 big bags of sand. Those things will really work out your air compressor unless you have a big one. Good luck to ya. Tags.

Your problem won't be the blaster, it will be the air supply. Check the CFM required for the blaster, versus your compressor. If you were going to do 5 trailers, I'd get everyone to chip in and rent a tow behind sir compressor used for construction. It will make short work of the job.

I Have Access To A Compressor At A Local Tire Store That Does Big Truck Tires. I Think They Have Five Lines To It And It Produces Just Over 200psi. I Think It Will Do Ok. So It Will Take 5 Bags Of Sand To Do 1 Trailer? Wow I Guess I Need To Get 25 Bags Or So. Thanks Guys . Any More Input From Anyone Would Be Great. Thanks

I'm in the same boat...only my trailer is circa 1976...want to get sandblasted and repainted. Any rough idea for what body shop would charge to do this?

Do they still use sand with those things? I think the big shops use walnut shells or something like that.

i asked around they told me $300 to sandblast and $50 to prime it and $150 to paint it. i said no thanks. I know for $500 i can buy everything and do it myself . plus if i do my buddies boats and get a few dollars from them it shouldnt cost to much. i figure $100 for a small sand blaster( i already have access to a compressor), $20 for primer and $50 for paint, 5 bags of sand maybe $50?. i should be able to do it for $225 or so. then about $50 for each buddies trailer with them buying supplies should get part of my money back.
