Thread: 1980s 20hp mercury wont start

for some reason my 20hp mercury stopped running and hasnt started since.i can pull pull and pull some more and it will never hit.gas is good and i took the plugs out and cleaned them and put them back in and still nothing.seems like its not firing but not for sure.any ideas

As said by Unc BS, I'd buy new plugs 1st. then you could connect a plug to plug wire & hold plug (by plug wire boot with insulated pliers) with threads of plug touching block of motor. Have another pull starter rope while watching for plug to fire. If see no fire is the power pack or coils. If got fire I'd pull carbs & give em a good cleaning.
