Question Avg cost of water impeller replacement?

What is the average cost to have your water impeller replaced on a 115hp Merc? Just trying to get an idea on cost before I get it done somewhere in a shop.

The last one I had put in my 50 hp Merc 4 stroke was about $125 installed.

If you are somwhat mechanically inclined you can save yourself a lot of money by doing it yourself. You can buy the kit for a fraction of what you will spend at the dealer. Billy

The impeller should run around $30/40 and take about 25 minutes or so. The hardest thing is getting the speedo tube back in place. Just apply greese on the bolts and impeller shaft and jog the propshaft and it should go smoothly.

I think I paid $100 for a 150 mercury this past year. The shop told me the impeller cost $25 and they charge $65 an hour labor.
It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

I got my impeller from the local merc dealer. They also had the same thing at BPS. I got a book from the library that showed step by step how to do it. Also got some info from Welcome to Broke Boats .com, boat repair information, help, and instructions. . It's not that hard a job, you just have to follow the directions and feel your way through. You will need another person with you to turn the flywheel by hand when you insert the prop shaft back into the engine. You have to turn it slowly until it slips in to position.
